The Source component can be found in "Phoenix objects" category of the Helpers. It has one parameter map describing the properties of the released fluid. The component does not release the fluid itself; instead it is just a container for the parameters. The fluid is released from the surface of the the selected nodes. The Source component does not care about which simulator is going to be affected. It works with every simulator which interacts with the associated node. So the Include/Exclude list of the simulator can be used to restrict the undesired interactions. Each parameter of the released fluid has a map slot allowing space modulation. Each parameter has a check box that controls whether or not the source will affect the corresponding channel.
Discharge (MXS: discharge, dmap, usedmap) - The speed (not the quantity) of the discharged fluid. The quantity of the fluid will be equal to this parameter multiplied by the object's surface.
Temperature (MXS: temperature, tmap, usetmap, uset) - The temperature of the released fluid measured in K. If the Temperature channel is not used this parameter is ignored.
Smoke (MXS: smap, smoke, usesmap, usesm) - The concentration of the "Smoke" channel, if the channel is not used this parameter is ignored. This parameter is the relative concentration of the "Smoke".
UVW(MXS: uvw, useuvwmap, uvwmap, useuvw) - if the Map box is not checked the integer specifies the Map Channel of the source object that will be used as UVW value. Otherwise the RGB values from the map are used as UVW.
Fuel (MXS: flmap, fuel, useflmap, usefl) - The concentration of the "Fuel" channel, if the channel is not used this parameter is ignored. This parameter is the relative concentration of the "Fuel".
If not solid (MXS: ifnotsolid) - specifies the method used to process the object in the Associated nodes list that are invisible to the simulation. This includes particles, hidden objects and objects excluded from the interaction list of the simulator.
Inject - the object creates new fluid with the specified parameters that is injected into the simulation. For particles the fluid is injected in the position of the particle. For geometry the fluid is injected within its internal volume. When this mode is selected the Discharge parameter specified the volume of the injected fluid.
Brush - the objects update the fluid parameters, slowly bringing them to the specified values. When this mode is selected the Discharge parameter specifies the speed at which the transition takes place.
Time base (MXS: timebase) - This parameter affects the particle systems selected as source. It allows the user to animate the parameters using the age of the particle instead the animation time.
Polygon ID (MXS: poly_id) - turns the source ID sensitive. Only polygons with the specified ID will emit the fluid.
Can pick Phoenix (MXS: pick_ph) - allows phoenix simulator to be selected as a source
Associated nodes (MXS: sources) - This is the list with the nodes releasing the fluid on their surfaces.
