Manual Adaptation Limits
The parameters in this rollout control the size and resolution of the grid.
Lock Grid Resolution lockGridRes - this attribute controls how Width/Length/Height will change the size of the grid. If checked, they will change the total size, preserving the grid resolution. If unchecked, the total size will stay the same, but the resolution will change.
Units metricUnits - set the metric system of the scene. By default the metric units are taken from Maya.
Units Scale unitsScale - scale the current metric units with a custom multiplier.
Cell Size cellSize - the size of one cell.
Width, Length, Height xSize, ySize, zSize - the grid size in cells.
X,Y,Z gridBCX, gridBCY, gridBCZ - select between different boundary conditions for the simulation grid.
Preallocate Memory gridPrellocate - provides fine control over the grid memory management.
Limited By gridLimitedBy - determines whether the grid's expansion is to be limited. If that is the case, it also determines the units in which the Limited to value is expressed in.
Limited To gridLimitedTo - the limit of grid expansion (if adaptation or preallocation is on). The meaning of this value is given by the Limited by parameter.
Adaptive Grid adaptiveGrid - enables the adaptive grid mode and determines which channel will be kept inside the Threshold parameter.
Threshold gridThreshold - in adaptive mode the change of grid's size is performed when the content of a cell near to the borders crosses this value.
No Below Initial Grid nbiGrid - when checked the initial grid is always inside of the adaptive grid.
Manual Adaptation Limits
By default, the adaptation algorithm uses the boundary conditions to determine if the grid can be extended in a particular direction. If the boundary is opened, this means that cells in that direction can be added. The maximum grid expansion is only be limited by total cells or used memory. This section allows fine control over the grid expansion in each direction.
Enable Limits adaptLimitEnbl - enables using manual limits along each axis when adapting the grid.
+/- X adaptLimitXp, adaptLimitXn - limits along X axis.
+/- Y adaptLimitYp, adaptLimitYn - limits along Y axis.
+/- Z adaptLimitZp, adaptLimitZn - limits along Z axis.
Fit Camera adaptCamera - Use a camera to tweak the limits according to the field of view. Note that the algorithm may not handle complicated cases properly. For such cases, the limits must be animated manually.
